Sifrimedia 2000 is a modern public library designed to fulfill the changing needs of society and to accommodate enormous advances in information technology. The project will be a home for various types of data resources. It will be a source of information and serve as a center for cultural activities for the town’s residents providing both a focus for social interaction and a cultural venue for the next generation whose main access to information will be by means of computerized technology.

The project is located on the Ashdod Cultural Campus at the junction of the Menachem Begin and Moshe Dayan Boulevards. The campus is composed of elements which characterize its role as a location for cultural and social interaction and designed as an urban complex composed of integrated departments together forming a center for social and cultural activity and a source of information services.

In Sifrimedia special areas have been set aside to provide a database for municipal information, pedagogical center, reading zones and lending library, “Children’s World” which includes a story-reading corner and a special space for infants, a large area for multi-media and a department containing educational software and journals.

From an urban aspect Sifrimedia constitutes an important and integrated element of Ashdod’s Cultural Campus. It positioning molds the shape of the entrance garden and the upper cultural square and its construction materials assimilate with those used in the other buildings and with the landscaping of the site.
